New Dice Roller
Hello All,
There's finally a module for rolling dice for the site software I use. It's fully integrated, and attaches the die roll to the comment/reply being posted.
To use it, when replying to a game thread, scroll down below the comment box, and you'll see an expandable item, called Roll Dice. Just click it to expand, then enter your die roll expression into the Roll field. The format is similar to the die roller I'd created as a temporary measure. Simply type in the number of rolls, followed by the number of sides on the dice, e.g. 1d20 or 2d10. You can add any modifiers right on the end of the expression, such as 1d20+4 or 1d6-1.
Unfortunately you can only enter one expression per comment, so you'll have to post multiple comments to do multiple rolls. I've submitted a request to the developer to add multiple die roll functionality, shouldn't be that hard to do.
Die rolls are also tamperproof, so players can't go back in and edit their rolls.
Any questions, post em here.
Update 05/12/11 - The new dice roller has been fixed so that die modifiers are added to the total of all dice, instead of each die. You canm also add multiple die rolls by separating each set of rolls with a semi-colon, like this: 1d20+4;3d6+2;1d100. The only issue with this is that notes added to the roll will be repeated for each set of rolls. Not a huge problem, but I'm sure it will get fixed soon (I've notified the author of the module).
Ok, the new dice roller isn't working as expected.
When you roll multiple dice with a modifier, such as 3d6+3, it adds three to each die, instead of to the total of the three die.
I've opened a bug report with the programmer, hopefully it can get straightened out.
So, my die roller is still available...
